In my opinion the gift to the minister of economy is the perfect example that struggle against machismo is still a long and troublesome road in our country. I have no doubt that every person present in the reunion (authorities and businessmen) yesterday was agreeing in that the gift was just a funny thing and they have no regret, We just have to see the pictures where everyone is laughing, including a senator and the ex-secretary general of OEA.
The entire situation is disgusting and a disrespect to every women in the world because the gift means to reduce them to a simple object, without an opinion nor self-determination. What is worse is that a lot of people think that it was ok or just a common joke, so, not only our authorities are male chauvinist and think they can say whatever they want, wherever they want, a lot of "normal" citizens think the same way about themselves. I couldn't disagree more with those statements. Women live their entire lives oppressed exactly because we, men, act with the right to control their bodies, mind and everything. Situations like this one can't be tolerated. It doesn't matter if it is an authority or a friend who act in a sexist way.
